    How I Go to School
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 8 years old. I'm in 3rd grade at Oakwood Elementary School. Today I'm going to tell you all about how I get to school each day. It's kind of a long trip but I don't mind because there's lots of fun things to see and do along the way!
First thing in the morning, my mom wakes me up at 7am. I get dressed and brush my teeth, then head to the kitchen for breakfast. My favorite is waffles or pancakes, but most days I just have cereal with milk. My little brother Johnny is usually still sleeping when I eat. He's only 5 so he doesn't have to wake up as early as me.
After breakfast, I put on my backpack and get my lunchbox. My mom packs me a sandwich, an apple, some carrots, and a cookie or granola bar for my lunch. I make sure I have sharpened pencils and any homework I need to turn in. Once I have everything ready, my mom walks me out to the driveway. That's where I meet up with my best friend Ella.
Ella lives two houses down from me. Her mom walks her over at 7:45am and we wait together for the school bus. We like to look at the pictures we colored the night before or play hand games while we wait. The bus driver is really nice. Her name is Ms. Jones and she always has a smile on her face. "Good morning girls!" she'll say as we climb on. We try to get a seat near the front since that's the bumpiest part and it makes the ride feel like a little rollercoaster!
The bus ride takes around 20 minutes. We go through my neighborhood picking up more kids, then drive over to the next neighborhood, and the next one after that. I look out the window and count how many dogs I see or try to read the signs and billboards we pass. Sometimes I read out loud to practice, but not too loud so I don't bother the middle school kids in the back.
Finally we get to the last neighborhood before my school. This neighborhood has the most kids so the bus is basically full by then. We pull up to the school entrance at 8:15am. Ms. Jones wishes us a "phenomenal day" as we hop off. I wave goodbye and then Ella and I walk across the front plaza to the main doors.
The morning bell rings at 8:25am but we have to line up outside our classroom beforehand. We like to play I-Spy or just chat and giggle with our other friends while we wait. Once the second bell rings at 8:30am, our teacher Mr. Matthews comes and leads us inside. We hurry to our desks, unpack our backpacks, and get ready to start our day of learning!
The first part of the day is usually our reading and writing lessons. We just started a fun new book about a girl who befriends a monster. I enjoy the stories we read as a class. Then we work on spelling and grammar worksheets. Sometimes we get moving around and act out vocabulary words to help us remember their meanings better.
Around 10:30am we have our snack and recess break. I munch on an orange or granola bar from my lunchbox. Then we all zoom out to the playground for 25 minutes of running, jumping, and playing games like tag or four square. My favorite is the swing set - I can swing so high and pretend I'm soaring through the clouds! The sunshine and fresh air help re-energize me.
After recess is time for math, which I'm pretty good at. We learn about things like fractions, word problems, and geometry. I get excited when we play games to practice our skills. Next up is science or social studies, where we learn about space, animals, history, and geography. Those subjects have the coolest books and videos!
The lunchtime bell rings at 12pm. I head to the cafeteria and my teacher helps me find the lunch I brought from home. I sit with Ella and our other friends like Lucas and Sophia. We talk about what we did over the weekend or make plans to have a playdate soon. I'm always starving by lunchtime so I gobble everything up!
Once we're done eating, we have 30 more minutes of recess time. We burn off some more energy before heading back to class. In the afternoon we have "Specials" like gym, art, music, or computers. Those are my favorite parts of the day because they're so fun and hands-on. We get to run around the gym, sculpt with clay, learn new songs, and practice typing. I'm working on getting faster with the "home row" keys.英语邮件怎么称呼editor
Finally at 3pm, the ending bell rings. We pack up our backpacks and get lined up by the
exit doors. Once everyone's teacher has accounted for them, we're released to meet our parents, buses or after-school programs. I hop back on Ms. Jones' bus for the ride home. I'm always tired by then so I zoned out and rested my head against the window.
When I get home around 3:45pm, the first thing I do is have a snack. Carrots and ranch or apple slices really hit the spot! Then I relax for a little by watching a TV show or playing outside if it's nice. Once my brother Johnny gets home, we play together for a while. He likes driving his toy cars all over and making me be the parking garage or gas station.
