摘要:An electrochemical sensor 30 for measuring hydrogen sulphide or thiols in a fluid (for example in a wellbore), comprises a containment means adapted to receive the hydrosulphide or thiol from the fluid, wherein said containment means comprises an electrically conductive porous member 32, 36. In use said porous member contains a precursor and a reaction solution which with the hydrogen sulphide or thiol cause a redox reaction resulting in an electrical current dependant on the amount of hydrogen sulphide or thiol present. The porous member 32, 36 may serve as a working electrode 40 and may be a mixture of the precursor and a binder (for example an epoxy resin). The porous member
may further comprise a counter electrode 42 and a reference electrode 44. The precursor may be selected from N,N'-diphenyl-1,4-phenylenediamine, N,N' dimethylphenyl-1,4-diamine, catechol and dopamine. The reaction solution may be an acidic solution (for example hydrochloric acid) and contain a gelling agent (for example polyacrylamide and a cross linking agent selected from formaldehyde and N,N'-
methylenebisacrylamide). The sensor may be adapted to receive the hydrogen sulphide or thiol from the fluid via a permeable membrane 34.
