    My Favorite Restaurant
Hi everyone! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 9 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my absolute favorite restaurant in the whole wide world! It's called Happy Garden and it's the best place ever.
Happy Garden is a Chinese restaurant near my house. From the outside, it doesn't look like anything special. It's just a little building with a red roof and some Chinese decorations out front. But oh man, when you walk inside, it's like entering a magical world of yummy smells and delicious foods!
The first thing you notice when you go in is the big scene painted on the wall. It shows a b
eautiful garden with flowers, trees, a little bridge over a pond with fish swimming underneath. It's so pretty and colorful. I always spend a few minutes looking at all the details before we get seated at our table.
Then you walk past the kitchen and that's when the amazing smells hit you! The aroma of garlic, ginger, sizzling meats and veggies cooking makes my mouth start watering immediately. I can never decide what I want to order because everything looks and smells so good.
My mom and dad's favorite dishes are the Kung Pao chicken and the beef and broccoli. They always get a big plate of each to share with me and my little brother Didi. The Kung Pao chicken is spicy with lots of dried chilis, peanuts and diced vegetables. I really like the crunch of the peanuts. The beef and broccoli has the most tender steak that just melts in your mouth. The broccoli soaks up all the yummy brown sauce too.
For Didi and me, we always get our favorites - sweet and sour chicken balls for him and lo mein noodles for me! The sweet and sour sauce is a tiny bit tangy but also super sweet a
nd delicious. Didi loves fishing out the chicken balls covered in that red sauce. And my h it's so perfectly cooked! The noodles are never too mushy or too crunchy. They mix in bean sprouts, little chunks of chicken, scrambled eggs, onions and lots of savory brown sauce. I inhale the whole big plate in about two minutes!
Sometimes if I've been really good that week, my parents will let me get an appetizer to share with Didi too. We both go crazy over the BBQ pork pastry puffs! The dough is all crispy and flaky on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. And the barbecued pork filling is smoky, savory and so so tasty. We have to be careful not to breathe on each other after eating them though because they can make your breath pretty stinky!
Another one of my favorite parts of Happy Garden is the friendly servers. The same few ladies have been working there since I was a baby. There's a middle-aged lady named Liwei who always ruffles my hair and calls me "Little Xiaoming" which I pretend to hate but I actually love. An older lady named Qianqian remembers my usual order and brings me a little extra serving of lo mein because she knows I get excited and inhale the first plate too fast. They take such good care of us.

At the end of the meal, we always get those yummy crunchy fried banana wontons for dessert. You crack them open and the sweet banana inside just oozes out. They're so warm and delicious, especially if you drizzle on some of the sweet syrup they provide. One time I ate so many that I actually made but it was totally worth it!
Happy Garden is way more than just a restaurant to me and my family. It's like a second home. The owners and staff feel like extended family members. We've celebrated birthdays, graduations, holidays and special occasions there for as long as I can remember. My parents even jokingly call it their "second kitchen" since we eat there so often!
When I'm having a bad day at school or just feeling sad about something, my mom always says "Don't worry, we'll go to Happy Garden for dinner tonight!" And just like that, my mood brightens instantly. From the second we walk through those doors, all the delightful sights, smells and tastes instantly put a big smile on my face. There's nothing in the world that brings me more joy than sharing a great meal at my favorite restaurant with my family.
So there you have it, my fellow third-grade friends - the very best restaurant for a kid (or anyone, really) is Happy Garden! If you've never been, I simply must insist that you go. Just come hungry and prepare for your taste buds to get incredibly happy!

    My Favorite Restaurant
Hi friends! Today I want to tell you about my super duper favorite restaurant. It's called Happy Smile and it's the best place ever!
Happy Smile is a big bright yellow building with a huge smiley face painted on the front. When you go inside, there are colorful decorations everywhere - balloons, streamers, and even a dancing robot that waves at you! The walls are painted like rainbows and there are toys and games scattered all around for kids to play with while they wait for their food.
But let me tell you about the absolutely most wonderful part - the menu! Happy Smile has the yummiest kid's menu with all my favorite foods. They have pizza with smiley faces
made out of pepperoni, chicken nuggets in fun animal shapes, and mac & cheese that's bright orange like a traffic cone. For dessert, you can get ice cream sundaes as big as your head or a thick chocolate milkshake that comes with a bendy straw!
