    My First Days at School
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 7 years old. I just started going to school this year and I want to tell you all about it! School is really fun and exciting, but also a little bit scary sometimes. There's so much to learn and see. Let me take you through my first few days.
The first day, my mom walked me to my classroom and helped me find my desk and cubby to put my backpack. The classroom was really big and colorful with lots of books, toys, art supplies, and a big rug in the middle for circle time. I was feeling nervous meeting my teacher Mrs. Martin and all the other kids I didn't know. But Mrs. Martin had a really nice smile and introduced me to the class. She gave us all name tags to wear which helped me start learning everyone's names.
At circle time, we sang some fun songs with hand motions like "The Wheels on the Bus" and "If You're Happy and You Know It". Then we learned about the different areas of the classroom for different activities like the reading nook, art station, pretend play area, and more. I was amazed at how many cool things there were to do!
We also went over the classroom rules like raising your hand, listening when others talk, being kind to friends, and keeping our classroom neat and clean. The rules seemed easy enough to follow. I was excited to make some new friends and learn all kinds of new things.
After circle time, we got to go explore the different stations and play. I started at the pretend play area which had a play kitchen, baby dolls, and dress up clothes. I met a girl named Emily there and we played house together for a while. Then we went over to the art station and made pictures with crayons, markers, and colored pencils. I drew my family including my dog Buster.
Pretty soon, it was time to wash our hands and get ready for lunch. We all lined up and walked down the hallway to the cafeteria. There were so many kids getting their trays and p
icking out their food! I got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, some goldfish crackers, a cookie, and milk. We had to raise our hands to get permission to leave our tables when we were finished.
After lunch, we had recess outside on the playground! There were so many fun things like swings, seesaws, slides, and playhouses. I played tag for a while with Emily and some other boys and girls. Running around in the sunshine felt so freeing after being inside all morning.
We headed back inside for more learning time in our classroom. We practiced writing the letters of the alphabet and our names. We read a story together as a class. And then we had lessons on counting, numbers, shapes, and colors. There was so much to soak in! I was starting to feel a little tired by the end of the day.
Finally, it was time to pack up our things and get ready for dismissal. I made sure I had all my papers, folders, and my lunchbox in my backpack. We lined up again and walked out to the front of the school where parents were waiting to pick up their kids. I saw my mom an

The next few days went pretty much the same as that first day. We would start with circle time, then free play and learning stations. Science, art, music, and even PE class! Every day there were new and exciting lessons, stories, songs, and games. I was making more and more friends like Michael, Jessica, and David. Sure, there were times I felt a little overwhelmed, confused, or shy. But my teacher and friends were very supportive and helped me out.
Soon enough, my fears went away and I fell into the routine of being a student. School was a wonderful place to grow and discover! I loved riding the bus, eating in the cafeteria, playing at recess, and learning so many new skills. From tying my shoes and zipping my coat to reading simple words and doing math problems, I was becoming a capable big kid right before my eyes!
Every week, we would have "Show and Tell" where we could bring in a special item or photo from home to share with the class. I brought in my favorite stuffed teddy bear Mr. Sn
uggles one week. We would also have special guests come in like a fireman, doctor, or children's book author to teach us new things. There were also class parties and events like Dr. Seuss' birthday, holiday celebrations, field trips, and more!
