Letter1
Dear editor,
During the winter holiday last year, I went shopping with my grandmother. We saw several beggars(乞丐), some of whom were disabled, which made me feel sad. Among them were old people, young people and even children! When I wanted to help them, my  grandmother stopped me. She told me they were not worth showing mercy (怜悯) to because some beggars cheat people out of their money. Should I help them?
                                                Yours,
                                                Gao Qi from Tianjin
Letter 2
Dear Gao Qi,
I understand your grandmothers point of view. I think that is just because some beggars have cgeated people, this doesnt mean you should never help any beggars.
Showing mercy and compassion to people who are not as fortunate as us is one of the kindest things we can do.
While some beggars may use dishonest means to get money, most beggars will not.
Even those who use dishonest means are probably desperate for(极想得到) food and feel they have no choice but to cheat people.
It is important to be careful for your own safety. But if you want to help them, you dont necessarily have to give beggars money in the street.
Another way you can help is by donation(捐赠) to the China Charity Federation(中华慈善联合会). Visit its website at Chinacharity.

Nowadays, more and more people like to travel in their holidays. The other day I read a report about the ways people spend their holidays. It is reported that in recent years several new holiday habits have been developed. Among them, the most interesting one is the growth of the holiday camps.
From the report we can see that in 1998, 60 per cent of people like to stay at home for holidays. But now the proportion has reduced to 9 per cent. More people go out for fun. The proportion of camping and traveling abroad was increasing steadily, from 10 per cent in 1998 to 68 per cent in 2008. People enjoy the fresh air, clean water and green hills when they go camping in the suburbs, In 1998, 48 per cent people enjoyed going to the seaside while in 2008 only 27 per cent prefer to go there. What great changes!
