[语法]今天给一个长难句分分层次~
原句:
Perhaps, like many foreigners visiting China, you have found yourself thinking the China you have been seeking is out there somewhere.
划分:
Perhaps, [like many foreigners <visiting China>(定语)](状语), you(主语)have found(谓语)yourself(宾语) {thinking [the China <you have been seeking>(定从) is out there somewhere](宾从)}(宾补)
其实这句话的难点有三:
1. found yourself thinking (that)...
found 是谓语动词,yourself 是宾语,thinking(that)是分词短语做宾补。所谓“宾补”就是补充说明宾补性质状态的,去掉的话,含义就不完整了。
2. thinking 后面带了一个省略了 that 的宾语从句,这个从句的主语 the China 又套了一个定语从句--(that) you have been seeking。
3. out there somewhere 怎么理解?
要看语境:the China you have been seeking is out there somewhere,表示”你一直在寻的那个中国就在某处”,言下之意为:你要有一双善于发现的眼睛,在风光、建筑、菜肴、行人中,去发现中国的影子。
