chance 更侧重于表示“运气”或“机遇”。如: You still have the chance of catching the train. 你仍然有机会赶上火车。
2. reward vt. 报答；酬谢；值得

【辨析】 reward award
这两个词都可以用作名词和动词。
作名词时，award意为“奖品,奖金”，与prize意义近似，指因为取得杰出成就而获的奖；而reward意为“奖赏，酬金”或一些非金钱的报酬。
作动词时，award意为“授予，判给”，reward则表示“报答，酬谢”之意。

the former表示“前者”，the latter表示“后者”，两者相对，只可用于两个人或物之间；
former Mayor表示“前任市长”，而former Ambassador表示“前任大使”，这种former的用法多见于美国，英国人习惯用ex-来表示“前任的”。

take part in: 侧重参加某项众性、集体性的事业、工作或活动，突出参加者在其中发挥一定的作用。
