My Guess at the Next Five Years of Gaokao English Essay Topics
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a 5th grader. I've been learning English since I was really little and I love trying to guess what the essay questions will be on future gaokao exams. The gaokao is the huge test that decides what university you can go to in China. The English part has a writing section where you have to write an essay. I think the essay prompts over the next five years will be about some really important topics affecting kids my age.
2024 Topic: Technology's Impact on Children
I bet in 2024 the essay will ask about how technology like smartphones, computers, and vi
deo games impacts kids today. On one hand, we can use tech to learn new things and stay connected with friends and family. But there are also risks like too much screen time, cyberbullying, and getting distracted from schoolwork. They'll probably want us to discuss both the pros and cons.sort of my superpower
2025 Topic: Environmental Protection for the Future
Environmental issues are such a huge deal now, I'm sure they'll make us write about that in 2025. Maybe it will be like "What can young people do to protect the environment?" We could talk about things kids can do like recycle more, conserve energy and water at home, join environmental clubs at school, and use less plastic. Taking care of the planet is so important for my generation.
2026 Topic: Cultural Traditions in the Modern Age
China has such an amazing history and rich cultural traditions. But some are at risk of being forgotten, especially by young people today. I think we'll get an essay asking how to
preserve things like festivals, arts, customs, and values in our modern, technology-driven society. Maybe we can discuss ways to honor the past while still embracing the new.
2027 Topic: Balancing Academics and Extracurriculars
There is so much pressure on students in China to study hard and get top scores. But it's also important to explore other interests through after-school activities and hobbies. The 2027 essay could be about finding a healthy balance between academics and extracurriculars, and why both areas are valuable for personal growth. I know I personally struggle with that a lot!
2028 Topic: Becoming a Global Citizen
As the world gets more connected, the idea of being a "global citizen" who understands different cultures and perspectives is very important. The 2028 essay might ask something about what it means to be a global citizen in the 21st century. We could discuss ways like learning foreign languages, getting firsthand cultural experiences, developing empathy and open-mindedness, that sort of thing.
Those are my predictions for the next five years of English essay prompts on the gaokao! Of course, I could be totally wrong since I'm just a kid. But those topics – technology, environment, cultural traditions, life balance, and global citizenship – are such crucial issues affecting today's youth. I'm sure they'll want us to think critically and express our views on subjects that will impact our future lives. Writing the essays might be hard work, but I know practicing now will prepare me for the real test day! Let me know what you think the topics could be too. Thanks for reading my guesses!

My Big Dreams for the Gaokao English Exams!
Hi everyone! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a 5th grader who loves English. I may be just a kid, but I have some really big ideas for the Gaokao English essay topics over the next few years. The Gaokao exams are super important for getting into a great university in China. The English portion is especially hard, with that huge essay section at the end. I think the essay topics should be all about inspiring students to explore the world and follow
their passions!
For the 2024 Gaokao, I think the essay prompt should be "If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?" Writing about dream vacation spots would be so much fun! I would choose to visit London, England. I've learned so much about British culture and history, and I'd love to see Buckingham Palace, ride the London Underground, and maybe even meet the Queen herself. I've been practicing my British accent too - "Hello guvnah, lovely day for a spot of tea, innit?" That's probably not quite right, but you get the idea!
In 2025, the essay could be "What invention would you create to make the world a better place?" Inventions have transformed our lives, from light bulbs to smartphones. I would invent a machine that cleansed the air and oceans of pollution. The planet is getting sicker due to smog, plastic waste, and other environmental problems. My eco-invention would use advanced filters and decomposition technology to remove contaminants and toxins. That way, every human and animal could breathe fresh air and swim in crystal clear waters. Pretty cool, right?
