摘要：PURPOSE:To decrease the seismic response of a reactor pressure vessel not only where characteristic frequencies of a reactor building and the pressure vessel are far from each other but also where the frequencies are near to each other. CONSTITUTION:A reactor pressure vessel 1 is connected at its lower portion with a pressure vessel pedestal 3 through a pressure vessel skirt 2, and is supported in vertical horizontal directions. Plural spring members 11 are radially arranged around the middle portion of the vessel 1 to form a vibration dampr 10, the other ends of the members 11 connected to a ring 12 which has an appropriate mass and is mounted on top of a shield wall 5. The mass of the ring 12 and the spring constant of the members 11 are so selected as to be equal to the characteristic frequency of the vessel, thereby achieving damping effect and reducing seismic response of the vessel 1.
