My Dream Job as a Music Show Editor
Ever since I was a little kid, I've been completely obsessed with music. I can't get enough of singing, dancing, playing instruments, and just listening to all kinds of amazing tunes. My parents have told me that from the time I was a baby, I would get this huge smile on my face and start wiggling around whenever music came on. As I got older, I started taking piano lessons, joined the school choir, and even tried learning the drums for a while (my parents didn't love that one!).
But as much as I love performing music and being a part of making it, my biggest passion is sharing incredible music with others. I want everyone in the whole world to experience the pure joy that music brings me. That's why my absolute dream job is to be the editor for a big music television show one day. Can you imagine anything more awesome?
Being a music show editor means I'd get to decide what amazing songs and performances
get shown to millions of viewers every week. I'd scour the world for the best new artists and latest hit tracks to feature. But I'd also make sure to include plenty of classic hits and legendary performers that everyone loves. A good music show needs to have something for all ages and musical tastes.
Needless to say, I'd make sure my show was just jam-packed with nonstop musical awesomeness from start to finish. We'd open up with a enormous production number featuring a superstar act backed by a marching band, dance crew, pyrotechnics, and everything! Then we'd showcase a few up-and-coming bands and soloists who are destined to be the next big thing. Maybe we'd do some silly games and skits in between to keep things fun and interesting.
For the middle portion, that's where we'd take a look back at music history and honor icons like The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and more. I'd make sure to book major stars to perform amazing tribute medleys celebrating these all-time greats. It would be so powerful and give everyone chills!
But of course you can't have an amazing music show without the latest hits and hottest music videos. That's where I'd devote huge chunks of the broadcast to the biggest songs currently dominating the charts and airwaves. We'd do big production numbers straight from the music videos with special effects and everything. Maybe we could even have the artists come on and get interviewed too!
Towards the end, we'd switch gears and put the spotlight squarely on musical pioneers and boundary-pushers from across all genres. One week it could be celebrating jazz legends, the next highlighting revolutionary rappers and hip hop artists. There's just so much incredible musicality to recognize from all cultures and backgrounds.
And we'd have to close things out with one last can't-miss performance from the biggest music act on the planet at that moment. Whichever band or singer was just completely dominating would get to shut down the show with a massive spectacle unlike anything else on television. Now that's how you leave audiences blown away!
As the editor, I'd get to control literally every aspect of making this larger-than-life musica
l extravaganza come together each week. From picking the performers, to putting together setlists and music and choreography, I'd be the one calling all the shots. My vision and passion would shape the entire show.
But it's not just about making things look and sound great on screen (although that's definitely a huge part of it). Music is also so deeply personal and emotional for me and so many others. The songs and artists we love feel like close friends that help get us through our happiest and toughest stretches in life. They motivate us, inspire us, comfort us, and bring us endless delight.
So I'd want my show to really tap into those powerful feelings and make it about way more than just music performances. We'd highlight amazing stories of struggle and perseverance from the artists themselves. And we'd celebrate how music brings people together and becomes the soundtrack to all of our most cherished life memories.
Imagine having me on as editor and doing special segments where we let audience members nominate local singers and bands to come perform on the show. Think of the thrill
that would give to those talented people pursuing their musical dreams! Or we could do an episode giving a behind-the-scenes look at how hit songs get made from start to finish.
Really, the possibilities of what we could do would be endless. And as editor, no idea would be too big or ambitious for me to try to pull off somehow. This wouldn't just be a regular old music show. It would be a whirlwind audiovisual spectacular celebrating everything that's amazing about music from all around the globe like nothing else on TV.
