    My New School Year
    Wow, another school year has begun! I've just started 9th grade and so much has already happened. Over the summer, I went to camp and made some new friends that I've already hung out with a few times. I've also grown a few inches taller since last year!
    On the first day, I was really nervous because I didn't know any of my teachers or what classes would be like. But I've met some cool people in my classes so far. My math class in particular has been really fun - I've learned how to factor polynomials and graph equations already. I think I've finally started to get the hang of algebra.

tween math, English, science, and history, I've spent hours working on assignments. I've had to become way more organized with my time. Mom and Dad have been helping me set up a schedule and routine.
    In English class, we've been studying different types of essays and narratives. I've really enjoyed the creative writing units so far. We just finished writing personal narratives, and I wrote mine about the time I got lost at the amusement park when I was little. I've also read some classics like To Kill a Mockingbird which was sad but very powerful.
    My science class has been really interesting too. So far, we've learned about the scientific method, conducted some simple experiments, and started a unit on chemistry. I've loved getting to do hands-on activities and labs. Last week, we did an experiment combining different household chemicals to see their reactions. It was awesome but also a little smelly!
    For history, we've been studying ancient civilizations and have learned about societies in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. I've been fascinated by all the myths, art, archite
cture, and technological innovations of those early cultures. My favorite unit so far was on ancient Greece - I've read some excerpts from Greek philosophers and tragedies which were complex but really engaging.
    Outside of classes, I've gotten more involved in school clubs and activities too. I joined the school's environmental club because I've become really passionate about sustainability and wildlife conservation efforts. At our first meeting, I've already learned about ways to reduce energy usage and recycle more at school.
    I've also continued with my dance classes after school. This year, I've taken on helping to teach and lead some of the younger kids' classes. It's been a new challenge coordinating the classes but I've gained more confidence. Our dance team has also started preparing for the upcoming competitions later this year.
    Another thing I've really gotten into recently is coding and computer programming. Over the summer, I took an online course to learn Python. I've been practicing building basic programs and apps. It's been confusing at times, but also really fun figuring it all out. Hopef

    On the social side of things, I've made some new friends through my classes and clubs. My best friend Sophie and I have kept in touch over the summer, and we've already had several sleepovers to catch up. We're still giggling about all the silly things that happened at camp. I've also reconnected with old friends from last year.
    However, there have been some not so fun developments socially. A group of older students has been picking on some of the 9th graders, including me and my friends a few times. They'll make rude comments or jokes when we walk by. I've tried to just ignore them and avoid walking near them in the halls. Hopefully that bullying stuff doesn't continue.
    Other than that little issue, it's been a really positive start to the year! My classes have been engaging, I've made new friends, and stayed involved in activities I enjoy. I know I've got a lot of work ahead, but I feel prepared and motivated to make this a great year. Freshman year, here I come!

    I'm so excited for a brand new school year! I've done so many fun things over the summer. I've been to the beach, the park, and even went camping with my family. Now it's time to go back to school and I've prepared all my new supplies.
    This summer has been incredible! I've had so many adventures and experiences that I'll never forget. One of the highlights was definitely the camping trip my family took in July. We've been going camping every summer for as long as I can remember, but this year's trip was extra special.
    We've always camped at the same spot by the lake, but this time we decided to try somewhere new. We've heard such great things about Pine Ridge campground from our friends, so we packed up and headed there instead. The campsite was absolutely beautiful - it's been nestled in amongst towering pine trees with a lovely little creek running alongside it. I've never seen anything quite like it before.
