  一、Besides与Except:
  这对单词的用法大不相同。
  、besides：用于肯定句时意思是：“除了……外还有”用于否定句时意思是：“除了……外”可以替换为except.Eg:
  ①Therearemanygirlstherebesidesme.除了我以外，那里还有很多女孩。（包括me）
  ②whatdidyouwantbesidesthese?除了这些东西外，你还要什么？（包括these）
  ③Haveyounoclothesbesidesthose?除了那些衣服外，你没有衣服了吗？（此时besides可以替换为except）
  2、except:“除了……外”（……不包括在内）。Eg:
  ①IgotoschooleverydayexceptSunday.除星期天之外，我天天上学。
  ②Nobodycameexceptme.除了我之外没人来。
  二、But与Except:这对单词的意义相近，但用法上有以下区别：
  、but通常只与next,last,no,anwhere,everything以及who,where,what等疑问词连用，所以其他的情况一般用except.
  Eg:
  ①Iknowthemallbutone.我只差一个就全认识了。
  ②whobutafoolwoulddosuchathing？除了傻瓜谁会做出这样的事情来？
  2、but强调意义的几乎完整性，except相比之下更强调后面的例外。Eg:
  ①Ihavereadallthebooksbutone.只差一本这些书我都看完了。
  ②Ihavereadallthebooksexceptone.我还有一本书没看完。
  三、Exceptfor与Except.这两个词的意义相近，但用法上有以下区别：
  、except
  多用于前后有对应词语的句子中，exceptfor多用于前后没有对应词语的句子中.Eg:
  ①yourpictureisgoodexceptforsomeofthecolours.你的画很好，除了有些颜不好。（前后没有对等的词语）
  ②wegothereeverydayexceptSunday.我们除了星期天外天天去那里。（everyday与Sunday是对应词）
  2、except后可以接不定式，介词短语，而exceptfor则不可Eg:
  ①Herarelywentthereexcepttohisoffice.除了去办公室，他很少去那里。
  ②IcantakemyholidayatanytimeexceptinAugust.除了8月份，我可以在任何时候休假。
  3、except用于表示同类事物之间的关系，其意为"除......以外"、"除去"。
  except后面可接名词、代词、动词、副词、介词短语和从句等。如：
  ①wehaveanEnglishlessoneverydayexceptSunday.除星期天外，我们每天有一堂英语课。（接名词）
  ②TheyallwenttotheparklastSundayexcepthim.除了他以外，上星期天他们都去公园了。（接代词）
  ③EverydaymarydoesnothingexceptwatchTV.每天玛丽除了看电视以外什么都不干。（except后接动词时，一般为带to的动词不定式。但如果except前面有谓语动词do或其相应形式时，后面通常接省略to的动词不定式。如此句。）
  ①Healwaysgoestoworkbybikeexceptrecently.除最近外，他一般都骑自行车上班。（接副
词）
  ②Afterbreakfastthestudentswentnowhereexcepttoschool.吃完早餐，学生们除了上学就不到别处去了。（接介词短语）
  ③myfatherusuallygoestoworkbybikeexceptwhenitrains.除下雨天外，我爸爸通常骑自行车上班。（接从句）
  4、exceptfor用于表示对主要部分的肯定和对局部的否定。它不表示同类事物之间的关系;exceptfor后接的词同句子中的整体词（主语）不是同类的，指从整体中除去一个细节，一个方面；而except后接的词同整体词（主语）一般是同类，指在同类的整体中除去一个部分。
    1）"除了......以外"。如：
  ①Smithisagoodman,exceptforhisbadtemper.史密斯除了脾气不好外，是个好人。
  ②Themoviewasgoodexceptfortheending.这部电影除了结尾之外都很好。
  ③Icananswerallthequestionsexceptforthelastone.除了最后一题外，所有题目我都可以解答。
  ④yourwritingisgoodexceptforafewgrammarmistakes.除了几处语法错误外，你的作文写得
很好。
  ⑤Thecompositionisverygoodexceptforafewspelling
  mistakes.
  2）"除去为了......"。如：
  motherwouldn'tgivehimanymoneyexceptforbooksandstationery.除了买书和文具外，妈妈不给他任何钱。
  3）"如果不是"，"若非"。如：
  ①Exceptforyou,Iwouldpasstheexam.如果不是你，我就会通过考试。
  ②Exceptforjohn,thewholeclasspassedthetext.
  除了约翰之外，全班都通过了这次测验。
  4）"exceptfor+名词"结构一般可以改写成"except+that从句"。如：
  ①Thiswilldoexceptforthelength.=Thiswilldoexceptthatitistoolong.如果不是它太长的话，这会很好。
  ②AllarehereexceptfortheabsenceofTina.=AllarehereexceptthatTinaisabsent.除了蒂娜以外，大家都在这里。
  5、except与exceptfor的互换
  ①except与exceptfor有时可以通用，不过，一般情况下，exceptfor可置于句首，而except则不能。如：
  ②EveryoneishereexceptTom.（或：ExceptforTomeveryoneishere.）除汤姆外，大家都到了。
  2）except与exceptfor在句中也可互换。
    一般来说，否定句中用except，肯定句式可以用exceptfor来替换。如：
    ①Thisarticlehasnoblundersexceptafewmistakes.这篇除了一点小错外没有大错。
    ②此句可改为：Thisarticleisinstructiveexceptforafewblunders.这篇除了有些错误外，是有教育意义的。不过，在前后有相称的同类词语时，应用except，否则用exceptfor。如：
  ①wecometoschooleverydayexceptSunday.除星期天外，我们天天上学。（句中everyday与Sunday同类）
  ②Thisdressisreadyexceptforthebuttons.衣服做好了，只是钮扣未缝上。（句中ready与buttons不同类）
